Keystone’s Skiing Hits Keep Coming: Bowls, Trails, and Moonlight Rides Take the Slopes to New Heights

Keystone Blog Banner Header

March means Ski Season 2024 is in full swing at Keystone.  The expanded Bergman and Erickson Bowls carve out an amped-up skiing experience. Hit trails ranging from green to black, but no matter the trail’s difficulty, breathtaking Rocky Mountain views frame out your runs. In fact, the paths bear the names of some of the area’s best-known mountain peaks like Miners, Ten Mile, Ute, Buffalo, and more.

Before, hiking in and skiing out were the only ways to fly in and out, but now a  high-speed, six-person chairlift climbs alpine heights to open up more than 550 acres. Coupled with the more advanced terrain of the Erickson Bowl, winter adventurers can choose their high-elevation adventure, and if that hike-to-ski experience is still on the docket, more than 1,300 acres of skiable terrain beckons expert skiers to traverse the South Bowl, the Windows, the North Bowl and Independence Bowl.

Ski these newly-opened spaces and score major bragging rights.

After exploring the bowls, maybe the backcountry calls to you. Take a break from the crowds and head off onto the wintery trails of the Keystone Nordic Center. Hear the pines whisper and the snow dance through the 40 kilometers of backcountry trails weaving through the  White River National Forest. Or, leave the skiing for later and take advantage of the center’s snowshoeing with a guided tour–let the pros do the planning. This winter wonderland also boasts more than 17 kilometers of groomed trails for classic and skate skiing.

If you aren’t quite ready to leave the snow behind, don’t let the sun set on the day.  Night skiing at Keystone keeps the fun pumping until 7 pm on Fridays and Saturdays through March 30th. Head to the River Run base area, bundle up, and watch the sun dip down over the mountain peaks as you slalom under the moonlight.

Bowls, trails, and night skiing–Keystone again proves itself a snow lover’s paradise.
